Save money with a garment dispensing system for company garments

For users, workwear is a necessity. Users accepts the necessity of the corporate identity or of promoting safety through the use of clothing. Very quickly, a personal locker with personal garments appears to be the right solution. The user comes to work, takes his or her garments out of the locker and proceeds to change clothing. After work, this same user just wants to go home as soon as possible, and the process begins anew the next day.

Many organisations employ this sort of solution. Although the solution seems pragmatic and simple; in fact, it has many disadvantages:

  • Employees who fail to return their clothing or who turn them in too late begin grabbing the wrong garments, borrow clothing from one another or use a set of pool garments.
  • Users who do not have to work quickly develop a crowded locker.
  • Inefficient supplies of clean and dirty clothing are found in multiple locations
  • Managing the keys for the lockers can also become a daily task.
  • Garment theft and loss are completely opaque

How do you resolve the disadvantages of this process? In short, we recommend the use of pool garments and a distribution system. See below for an explanation on how this works:

  1. First and foremost, we advise as many users as possible to switch from personalised clothing to pool garments. Only those users who, due to their physical situation (i.e. being extremely tall or extremely short) or their position (e.g. emergency response team members) should continue to use personalised clothing. The vast majority of the total group of users (95% in most situations) are a good fit for normal clothing profiles.
  2. Clothing must be equipped with a UHF RFID chip label from a manufacturer like Fujitsu. This means that all of the garments in the use cycle can be individually registered. This organises the age of the garments, their laundering and their location, and so forth. Frequently, this chip can be used in new garments from the clothing manufacturer. If not, your laundry service can arrange this for a small fee.
  3. Choose the distribution system that best suits your organisation. We have many options to suit your target group and your budget alike. Visit our website to view all of the variants. The first major decision is whether to choose the distribution of folded or hanging garments. The second decision involves either a 100% discipline or allowing for some freedom. The Chiptex-Liner system has hanging garment distribution and a 100% discipline. Users cannot take more garments from the system than what has been indicated. A Chiptex-U-Cab, on the other hand, registers every garment that is taken out and by whom. However, a user make take three items rather than only one. With this system, the discipline has some freedom. Please do note … it is registered! For more information about distribution systems, we refer you to our website or become better informed via our account managers.
  4. During the first few weeks, the implementation and commissioning of such a distribution system will cause waves within the user group. Implementing the system, therefore, does require some attention. After which, you will find that the process has become easy to control. A temporary worker or new employee begins wearing the right garments right from day one. Redundant stocks are easily identified and can be analysed.

There are still a few points for attention in this process that were pointed out to you during a conversation with our account manager. However, in the business case that we would like to draft with you, the initial costs of a distribution system with pool garments are usually recovered within two to three years. The system also resolves several qualitative issues with logistics and services.

We are happy to tackle the challenge with you to see where costs can be saved, logistics simplified and services increased.

LCT has clients in wide-ranging market sectors. Systems may be purchased for purely qualitative reasons, such as increasing safety or controlling for representativeness. In other cases, it is all about a budget-neutral way to unburden the client. Cost savings can always be identified for large organisations.

If you would like more information about how to achieve this, please leave a message so that we can contact you for an appointment.
